The ear irrigation training model is used as follows, and the entire operation is designed to simulate a real ear irrigation scenario, while ensuring the safety and accuracy of the operation:
1. Preliminary preparation
Check information: Bring the items to the bed, check the bed number, name, drug name, treatment time and location of the ear to ensure correct operation.
Patient's position: The patient takes a sitting position, the head is slightly tilted to the opposite side, so that the affected ear is slightly upward. Wrap the same neck and shoulders with a therapeutic towel or blanket to prevent splashing.
Disc placement: The patient holds the disc against the skin of the neck under the earlobe so that water can flow back into the disc when irrigating.
Second, the flushing process
Pull the auricle: the operator will pull the auricle back up with his left hand (if it is a baby, it will pull the auricle back down), so that the external auditory canal is in a straight line to facilitate the smooth entry of the washing solution.
Prepare the flushing solution: With the right hand ear holder, adjust the warm water to the appropriate temperature (preferably close to body temperature, such as about 37°C) to prevent dizziness caused by too cold or too hot.
Flushing operation: Inject the washing solution into the upper wall of the external ear canal behind, and the force should not be too strong, nor should the irrigator head be tightly plugged into the external ear canal to prevent water from flowing out and burst the eardrum. It should not be impacted on the eardrum, so as not to damage the eardrum.
Third, after washing treatment
Dry the external ear canal: Dry the external ear canal with a dry cotton swab after rinsing to ensure that no fluid remains.
Check for damage: Check the external ear canal and tympanic membrane for damage or lesions, if there is, it should be treated in time.
Finishing items: Finishing items after the completion of washing, including cleaning the washer, bending the tray and other items back in place.
4. Precautions
Ensure sterility: The whole operation must be sterile to avoid infection.
Gentle operation: The operation should be gentle to avoid unnecessary injury to the patient.
Appropriate temperature: The temperature of the flushing solution should be appropriate to avoid causing discomfort to the patient.
By following the above steps and precautions, the operation of the ear irrigation training model can be carried out effectively, thereby improving clinical skills and ensuring patient safety.
