How to care for a newborn?

Author:ADA MED SUPPLY LIMITED

Caring for newborns requires meticulous care, because newborns have poor physical constitution and are prone to infection or adverse consequences due to improper care.  Here are a few key points for caring for your newborn:

Keep warm: Newborns have poor resistance to the external environment and are prone to cold, so they should keep warm to avoid catching colds.  Wear them softly and comfortably, and don't tie them too tightly to avoid damaging your skin.  The indoor temperature should be maintained at 22℃-26℃, and the humidity should be around 50%.  Do not cover your child with a quilt that is too thick at night to prevent heat dissipation in time.

Feeding: Breastfeeding is the best choice because breast milk contains nutrients and antibodies that babies need, which can enhance their immunity.  When breast milk is insufficient, formula milk can be added appropriately for feeding.  Pay attention to hygiene and disinfection before feeding.  When feeding, let the baby hold the areola to avoid inhaling too much air.  After feeding, you can let the baby lie on the mother's shoulders and pat the back gently to expel the air sucked in during sucking and avoid spitting up.

Sleep: Newborns can sleep up to 20 hours a day.  Adequate sleep helps the baby's neurological and physical development.  It is recommended to focus on bathing, feeding, and changing diapers, and do not wake up the sleeping baby too much.

Skin care: Newborn’s skin is delicate and easily damaged, so pay attention to skin cleaning and care.  Wash immediately after each defecation to avoid diaper rash or red buttocks.  When taking a bath, the water temperature should be moderate and not too hot.  At the same time, pay attention to keeping the umbilicus clean and dry to avoid infection.

Prevent infection: Newborns have low immunity and are susceptible to diseases.  Therefore, relatives should wash their hands before coming into contact with the newborn, and family members who have a cold or infectious disease should try not to visit the baby.  In addition, keep the room clean and hygienic and open windows regularly for ventilation.

Provide sensory stimulation: Newborns already have various sensory perceptions and physical activities.  Parents should talk to their babies more and provide various sensory stimulations to make them feel safe, comfortable and satisfied.  This will help their children develop healthily both physically and mentally. .

In short, caring for newborns requires patience and care.  Parents should closely observe the needs and reactions of their babies and adjust their care methods in a timely manner.  At the same time, keep a happy mood and create a warm and safe growth environment for the baby.
